Mary’s Shelter Crisis Pregnancy Home

Mary’s Shelter is a home for expectant mothers in Fredericksburg, Virginia, facing crises during pregnancy. This Catholic nonprofit provides housing and support for many women escaping domestic violence, alcohol or drug abuse situations - for women who have chosen life for their babies. As part of their stay at Mary’s Shelter, they receive housing for up to three years if they maintain steady employment and take active steps to become self-sufficient.

Mary’s Shelter is a pro-life organization that has a special place in my heart, and I’ve filmed the video for their Summer Soiree fundraiser three times. This version is the 2021 edition, and it’s one of my favorites. I did all of the interviewing, lighting, camera work, scoring, and storyboarding for this project. After this video released at the annual Summer Soiree, one of its subjects was invited to speak at the 2022 March for Life in Washington, D.C.

I continued to produce the annual video for Mary’s Shelter’s Summer Soiree from 2021-2023.

  • Livingston County Catholic Charities

Livingston County is one of the most affluent counties in the state of Michigan. This leads many to believe, errantly, that there are no great needs for charitable works in the county. That’s where Livingston County Catholic Charities comes in. As opposed to more traditional Catholic Charities agencies, which often focus on things like refugee resettlement, basic needs like food and shelter, and job-training programs, Livingston County Catholic Charities tackles more hidden needs. Things like helping care for elders dealing with Alzheimer’s and other aging issues, protecting seniors from scams, drug and alcohol abuse prevention, counseling, and other mental health services. When Livingston County Catholic Charities wanted to create a fundraiser video that highlighted the best of what they do, they called me to produce this short video to be shown at an event.

  • Gladhander 2024 Fundraising Video

This was the second year Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools brought me in to film the video for its annual Gladhander auction, and this year the focus was on high-energy, high-action video. I made the decision to open the video with a high-energy montage of football footage (something the St. Francis High School faithful are very proud of), then lead into student testimonials about their experiences attending the Catholic schools in Traverse City.

Gladhander 2024 set a fundraising record of more than $600,000 raised in a single night.
